Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has reportedly turned down the chance to sign for Italian Serie A giants Juventus this summer. This is according to report from Italian publication Corrieredello Sport which stated that Luis Suarez rejected the transfer to join the Old Lady as a free agent this summer when he was approached by club officials.
Ex-Ajax Amsterdam and Liverpool star Suarez signed for Atletico Madrid from Barcelona in a €6m deal as he had one year left on his contract with the Catalan giants. He went on to fire Atletico Madrid to their first La Liga title in seven years last season netting the all-important goal in the 2-1 comeback win over Real Valladolid on the final day. His goal sealed the title for Atletico Madrid who were able to fend off Real Madrid.
Juventus are looking for a striker replacement for Alvaro Morata who’s expected to return to Atletico Madrid this summer after his loan spell in Turin as reported by the abovementioned Italian media outlet. It’s safe to say that Luis Suarez won’t be the replacement for Spanish international Morata after the Uruguayan said no to their latest approach.
Suarez would be a free agent this summer when his Atletico Madrid contract expires and he has already set his sights on a move away from the club. He has been linked with a move to Inter Miami in the MLS (Major League Soccer).
