MESSI TO RETIRE FROM INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL

There are reports that Lionel Messi is set to hang his boot at the international level following Argentina’s exit from the 2018 World Cup. The Barcelona man scored the hat trick that sent Argentina to the World Cup finals after several setbacks. However, Messi could not inspire the South Americans beyond the Round of 16.

The team’s captain who has retired before in 2016 but was persuaded to return could now very well exit the team for good. He is 31 years of age and is obviously in decline. While the superstar soccer forward would always be dragged for his limitations in the national team shirt, it is sensible that he looks ahead after years of dedicated service. Read more…

Simon Mignolet Insists Mohamed Salah Is A Better Player Than Luis Suarez

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has said that Mohamed Salah is the better player compared to former teammate and Barcelona star Luis Suarez. The Uruguay international was a huge fan favourite during his time at Anfield and nearly guided the club to Premier League success during the 2013/14 season.

In an interview with HLN, Mignolet was clear on his thoughts on who is the better player between Suarez and Salah, he said:“Luis Suarez was super clinical, but in terms of pace and technique I rate Mo Salah higher.” Meanwhile, speaking about his own struggles between the sticks, Mignolet added: “I try to help my mates as much as possible. (James) Milner likes to practice penalties with me, and (Mohamed) Salah sometimes asks me things about goalkeepers. Before Bournemouth I gave him tips about (Asmir) Begovic.” Read more…

TalkSPORT Pundit Hails Mohamed Salah As One Of Liverpool’s Best Signings

TalkSPORT Pundit and Liverpool fan Micky Quinn believes Mohamed Salah has been one of the Reds’ top signings over the past decade. The Egypt international joined the Merseyside outfit from AS Roma during the previous summer transfer window, and he has since accumulated a tally of more than 30 goals in all competitions despite playing on the right-wing.


Speaking on TalkSPORT, Quinn feels Salah is probably the better signing when compared to the likes of Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres – both of whom were centre-forwards by nature, he said: “Luis Suarez was an unbelievable player, but he came with a lot of baggage – this kid has no baggage. Fernando Torres was a breath a fresh air when he came to Liverpool and scored spectacular goals, be he was an out-and-out centre forward and Salah is a midfielder. With Coutinho, I think he was yet to really fulfil his potential at Liverpool and he probably will do with Barcelona, but Salah now is at the very top of his game. I think he’s been one of the most important Liverpool signings and probably the best Liverpool signing in the last ten to 15 years.”

Barcelona identify Daley Blind as January target

Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly earmarked Manchester United’s Daley Blind as a potential target for the January transfer window. The Blaugrana are currently utilising the services of Gerard Pique alongside Thomas Vermaelen in central defence with both Samuel Umtiti and Javier Mascherano on the sidelines.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants are planning to retain their interest in Blind, who was previously on their radar prior to his Old Trafford move in 2014. Apparently, Blind’s versatility has caught the eye of manager Ernesto Valverde, and the Dutchman learned his early trade Ajax, who are known to play total football.

Luis Suarez never worried by his goal drought

Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez has said that he was never worried about his goal drought which lasted for 478 minutes prior to his goal against Leganes this weekend. The Uruguay international netted in the 1-1 draw versus Atletico Madrid back in October, and had gone five games without finding the net – the longest goalless streak since his switch from Liverpool back in the summer of 2014.

In an interview with BeIN Sports, the striker stressed that he was not anxious about the situation, and he is pleased to have contributed to the club’s cause winning streak across all competitions which has now extended to 17 matches. He said:”I wasn’t anxious. The important thing was to feel good again and help the team win. And the goals have served to help the team win the game today.”
