TRANSFORMED PLAYER

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has managed to transform himself into one of the best players in the world over the last few months. He has managed almost a goal per game in this season which looks like rewarding him with the league title at the end of the campaign. After being considered as rank outsiders for even the top four places, Liverpool are looking like worthy title contenders this campaign with only 10 matches remaining. Suarez has been a major reason for this massive improvement within Liverpool, as he has scored 24 goals in the league alone.

The Uruguayan striker, who was heavily linked with a move away from the club in the summer, says that the huge appetite for scoring goals and winning has been the main reason towards his impressive form. The 26-year-old recently signed a new five-year contract that made him one of the best paid players in the world earning around £ 220,000 per week. He was subjected to a £ 40 million offer from Arsenal in the summer, but Liverpool refused to sell him. He has formed a deadly partnership with Daniel Sturridge, which was not given a lot of time to develop since the England international joined the club only last January.

The formation has yielded more than 60% of Liverpool’s goals this campaign.

“I’m 27, at my peak and feel very happy within the club because I’m part of the best football in the world: the Premier League. I’m enjoying every game I play and my family life here, which is very important. I like winning; I hate losing. I’m one of the best players in the world, so having the opportunity to win everything – and losing only occasionally – is what drives me. I’m ambitious. I want to win and won’t stop until I score one, two or more goals,” said Suarez.

MINI CRISIS

Liverpool striker Luiz Suarez has been going through a minor drought after he has not found the back of the net in the last two matches. Even such a short spell can be classified as a drought for Suarez, who has found the back of the net an incredible 23 times in the league this campaign. He has made 32 appearances in all competitions and has scored 30 goals. This record is just four short of Cristiano Ronaldo this campaign. Suarez has been facing almost every match for Liverpool this campaign, but he says that there is a huge fear within himself about getting injured.

This is the World Cup year and every player, whose national teams have qualified for the tournament, will want to take part in it. Suarez is no different, but he has already seen a South American star – Radamel Falcao – ruled out of the World Cup due to an injury. The 26-year-old says that he does not want to miss the World Cup due to injury. Suarez is one of the important players for the national team as he is for Liverpool. Despite admitting that he wants to play in the World Cup, Suarez has confirmed that his first priority will go to Liverpool, who are having a great chance to win the title this campaign.

“The truth is that I am scared of what happened to Falcao and Walcott. But you live in the present and you always give your best for your club – you can’t be thinking about that all the time. It is a unique opportunity and we all want to be there, but I prefer to focus my mind on the English league. The moment to think about the national team will arrive later,” said Suarez, who also has 10 assists to his name.
