Liverpool legend urges Mohamed Salah to avoid what Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres did

Liverpool legend Ian Rush has urged Mohamed Salah to stay put with the club for the long-term unlike Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres, who pursued big-money moves elsewhere. The Egypt international has enjoyed an impressive 18 months since making the switch from AS Roma and he is currently the go-to man in the Reds’ frontline.

In a report covered by The Liverpool Echo, Rush highlighted that the attacker may not match the 44-goal tally from the previous campaign, given the defenders have begun tracking him much closely. However, the Reds great believes the Egyptian would still have a better season compared to the last, should the club end their wait for a maiden Premier League crown, he said: “On a personal level he might not achieve what he did last season, but if he scores 30 goals and Liverpool win the title he’s had an even better season.”

Harry Kane on the radar of Barcelona

It’s been reported that Barcelona richly desires to hire the services of the star English attacker Harry Kane as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez. Suarez, who has proven to be an outstanding performer for Barcelona and has provided them their money’s worth since joining in 4 years back, is now starting to go downhill in terms of his fitness. The last couple of seasons, he has had constant troubles with his knee and the fact that he is not getting any younger and is on the wrong side of his thirties now has forced Barcelona to start looking towards future.

Steven Gerrard compares Alfredo Morelos with ex-Liverpool striker

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has compared Alfredo Morelos with former teammate and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez. The Colombian has been in sublime form for the Scottish outfit this term with 16 goals across all competitions and this has helped them propel to the top of the table ahead of reigning champions Celtic.

Speaking to reporters, Gerrard was full of praise for the Colombian attacker, who has led the club’s frontline with successive despite his aggressive style of play. He added that his disciplinary record can be compared to former teammate Suarez, although the club are likely to work towards sorting out the issue with the attacker.

Luis Suarez insists Barcelona can’t over rely on Lionel Messi

Barcelona attacker Luis Suarez has stressed that the team need to find solutions when Lionel Messi does not make the starting lineup. The Catalan giants appeared on course for a second straight league defeat last weekend before Lionel Messi saved their blushes with a match-defining assist for Munir El Haddadi as they drew 1-1 against Athletic Bilbao.

Speaking after the game, Suarez indicated that the team cannot depend on Messi for all situations and the players within the squad should take more responsibility with some players having made the Blaugrana squad after experiencing success at other clubs across the world, he said: “We cannot depend on Messi solving everything. Many of us are here because of what we did in other teams. Both Lionel and [Sergio] Busquets gave us a lot, but we do not only depend on them.”

Eric Abidal dismisses talk of Barcelona changing their philosophy

Barcelona technical secretary Eric Abidal has dismissed suggestions that the club are looking to change their transfer philosophy. The Spanish champions recently completed the surprise signing of Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich and Abidal has now highlighted that the club are looking to adapt to the transfer market than changing their philosophy.

Speaking to reporters, the Frenchman said: “You talk about a philosophy, but there were other players [Barcelona were interested in. I think we have to adapt to the squad and make it as strong as possible. The coach has to have decisions to make. He [Vidal] is a player with character, who gives a lot in the centre of the pitch, not only in defence but in attack. [He brings] goals, that arrival into the box. A player with a profile like that, we know we need. He is happy here and wants to win titles.”
