Chelsea winger Pedro has backed Eden Hazard to recover from one of his worst seasons in his career and he expects the Belgian to go on and achieve the levels of Lionel Messi.
Regarded as the best player in the world, Messi has been lauded with five best player in the world titles. He has also been the recipient of numerous individual awards as well. Hazard has been spoken of in the same breath as some of the best players in the world and this certainly includes Messi. However, he has been a winner of a major individual accolade only once in his career.
Furthermore, he comes on the back of a very poor campaign in which sufferings were not limited to the player alone and extended to the club as well. Chelsea finished their campaign 10th in the table and it is the worst ever finish since 1996. Hazard showed signs of recovery during the Euro 2016 when he was instrumental behind Belgium almost reaching the semifinals of the tournament. Pedro, who has seen the talent within the 25-year-old from close quarters, says that Hazard is now refreshed to take on the season and he could not have been in a much better position. Pedro expects Hazard to use his talents and potentially reach the levels of Messi.
“When it comes to Messi, we are talking about a player I believe is still the best in the world. He really is on a different level to other players. But Hazard is a very, very good player, you can see his technique is excellent and he has shown everything at Chelsea. It’s always going to be difficult to compete with a player of Lionel’s ability, but Eden has all the qualities to do exactly that,” said Pedro, who was a teammate of Lionel Messi for several years.
